The Magnificent Lives of Marjorie Post

by Allison Pataki

As the Adult Services Manager at the Columbiana Public Library, I am tasked to pick books for our Afternoon Book Club. One patron suggested this read, thanks Kara, and I started reading it that night. This book was really hard to put down and I finished it in under 3 days.
The book is a historical fiction piece on the life of Majorie Post. Post was the only daughter of the founder of Post Cereals, C.W. Post. The author Allison Pataki has created a work of fiction with fusing historical events of Marjorie Post's life. From her growing up in Battle Creek, Michigan where her father enters the sanitarium of Dr. Kellogg to gain his health back and embarks on a journey with her father in creating breakfast cereal which would become the foundation of his empire.

Bollywood Invasion by Ricardo Alexanders

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I received this book through the Netgalley site. Imagine if you will being hit by a bus and not only waking up in a different time but also a different culture. This is what happens to a teenage John in NYC who is set back to India in the 1960's. He has to learn to readjust to his new life but also the thought of knowing things that will happen for the next 40+ years. With that knowledge, is he able to adjust or to make himself popular use the upcoming events that are in fact in his history to not only become the popular kid in school but also win the girl of his dreams.... I read an average of 1-2 books a month and this novel was one of the best I have read in the past five years. I had a hard time putting it down. The characters are very well written and the plot flows at a great pace. The book kept my interest throughout and I highly recommend it to those that like out of time type plots. Especially the movie "Somewhere in Time". #bollywoodinvasion  #netgalley
